Sydney has been my home since birth.
Love it or hate it, Sydney is the place that I know better than any other in the world. However, this year, as I enjoy an opportunity afforded by being part of my school community for fourteen years, I’m taking a day out each fortnight to be a tourist in my own city.
I’m planning to see the sights that, as a Sydneysider, I rarely think to visit, but as a tourist I would have enthusiastically coloured with pink and blue highlighters all over my Lonely Planet Guide.
I have twenty days to make the most of, and with one key Sydney attraction each day, I reckon this list will be a good start (adding to it throughout the year):
- Art Gallery of NSW ☑️
- Cockatoo Island
- Fort Denison (closed for renovation!)
- Taronga Zoo
- The new Sydney Zoo
- The Police Justice Museum (only open on weekends!)
- Hyde Park Barracks
- Museum of Contemporary Art
- White Rabbit Gallery
- Shark Island
- Goat Island
- Bare Island
- Middle Head Fortifications
- Parsley Bay
- Hermitage Foreshore walk
- Riding the Big Red Bus
I’m excited to see what this experience brings. It’s such a different way of being for me.
Now, I’d best be off…!
